Hardware and enterprise data providers — landscape findings
Bounded official-source scan of Dedrone, DroneShield, DJI AeroScope and Robin Radar.
Scope and evidence standard
Research date: October 9, 2026, America/Los_Angeles. Broad international scope because launch geography is unresolved. Assignment covers detection hardware, enterprise data aggregation and an existing commercial detection-data service. It does not assess mitigation procurement, design a product, test a detector, or establish legal permission to collect/reuse data.
Canonical records: Dedrone, DroneShield, DJI AeroScope, Robin Radar.
User context: the parent study links this landscape to IDEA-001 and preserves the user's data-gathering focus. No user-proposed monthly payment is treated as established market pricing. Assumption: these four vendors are an informative bounded sample, not an exhaustive worldwide inventory.
Findings and comparison
| Provider/category | Collection and output | Deployment / participation | Data access / published price | Current-status evidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dedrone: hardware plus commercial detection-data network | Passive RF plus integrated other sensors; identity/location/history outputs. DedroneCity markets network access | Customer sensor deployments or city service with no customer installation; no reviewed evidence of an open paid-host program | Enterprise integration; no public bulk-feed license or numeric price established | City product page claims 50+ cities, with free trial; independently audited coverage absent.16 |
| DroneShield: RF hardware and C2 aggregation | RF detection alerts; multi-sensor C2 provides exported event/location records | Wearable and customer site deployments; multi-site enterprise view | RESTful API advertised; public schemas, data resale rights and numeric prices unknown | Active product pages and dated 2026 corporate announcements, not independently verified field availability.2 |
| DJI AeroScope: legacy proprietary receiver | Receives supported DJI identification/telemetry broadcasts | Authorized institutional customers; no established contributor program | Historical SDK claim, no verified current support or price | Production suspended; support suspension April 15, 2026 conflicts with surviving order page.34 |
| Robin Radar: active radar | Physical target detection/classification and 3D tracks | Radar plus processing station; fixed/mobile enterprise use | C2 interfaces specified; commercial access terms/pricing unknown | Product sheet revision 2026.04; no independent delivery or performance test collected.5 |
Analysis
There is already a vendor-marketed city detection-data service, so the landscape is broader than individual detector manufacturers. DedroneCity is relevant to data access and aggregation, while DroneShield illustrates aggregation of a customer's own deployments. Neither establishes an open contributor marketplace.12
A data record can mean an RF alert, a triangulated transmitter location, a received identity broadcast or a classified radar track. These cannot be counted interchangeably as equally complete observations. Dedrone's own RF lineup distinguishes detection/classification from localization, and its AOA explanation calls for multiple sensors to determine position. Robin's table separately lists detection and classification range.65
Published integration capability is not evidence of a public redistribution license. No reviewed source substantiates a uniform per-device purchase price, operating cost, contributor payment or resale right. That is an evidence gap, not a claim that such commercial agreements do not exist.
Contradictions, limitations and verification
- DJI's lifecycle notice takes priority for lifecycle assessment over its conflicting order invitation; surviving hardware, stock or special support may exist but was not checked.34
- Dedrone's internal site/model count inconsistencies and Robin's power-output discrepancy are recorded in their profiles, without choosing a convenient figure.
- All capabilities remain attributed vendor claims. No independent accuracy, coverage, latency or field-performance evaluation was captured for these four providers.
- HTML captures preserve original bytes and readable text, but not JavaScript, linked assets, gated documentation or live dashboards. DroneShield pages contain duplicate navigation and some embedded widget text; the cited product sections were checked directly.
- DJI table extraction loses merged-cell association; original HTML inspection confirmed the April 15, 2026 date applies to both AeroScope variants.
- The four-page Robin PDF is intact with page-labelled extraction; page 4 was visually checked. Its other pages were text inspected.
- Axon's own acquisition announcement returned HTTP 403, retained as a failed capture. Dedrone's counterpart announcement was successfully captured; it is the same corporate narrative, not independent evidence.
Search approach and next action
Searched official company domains for product, API, lifecycle and acquisition terms, then inspected the archived pages. Robin Radar was included to represent a distinct active-radar modality. Unrelated hits, Reddit commentary, third-party API catalogs and reseller-price snippets were excluded as weaker evidence. Search results were discovery aids, not substitutes for source captures. No paywall or access control was bypassed.
Bounded research, source inspection and independent study review are complete; see recorded review. Next action: await user direction on follow-up research. Remaining questions: device-specific schemas and uncertainty fields; actual geographic coverage; current AeroScope compatibility/support; contributor eligibility; raw-feed availability and redistribution rights; current quotes; and independent comparative field tests.
