DroneScout Bridge is a pocket-sized Remote ID receiver that lets any iPhone or Android phone see the drones it would otherwise miss. It receives drone Remote ID on Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz and (triple-band models) 5/5.8 GHz, and relays every drone it hears as plain Bluetooth, the one signal every phone receives reliably. Range is up to 2 km.
Remote ID is mandatory for most drones in the US, the EU, the UK, Japan and China (what is Remote ID?). Use Bridge with our free DroneScout app for Android, iPhone and iPad, or with any other Remote ID app. There’s no pairing: switch it on and the drones appear.
Most users want the ds110 retail. Building it into a drone or your own product? The PCB versions output MAVLink for detect-and-avoid.
DroneScout Bridge also allows other operation modes to use it in embedded products It has several operation modes.
First, it can act as wireless relay. Receive popular drones with Remote ID and convert it to a wireless signal that most smartphones (iOS/Android) understand. You can keep using your favorite Remote ID app. We also provide the DroneScout pro app for Android, iOS and iPad.
Second, it can convert the detected Remote ID signals to MAVLink messages (ADSB_VEHICLE or OPENDRONEID message packs) and transmit them using the UART JST-SH 4-pin output connector. Use this for Detect And Avoid (DAA) applications running on your drone or aircraft. Or connect it to your favorite (embedded platform) to enable reception of Remote ID signals. Example Python and C code is provided.
Do you need a more powerful Remote ID receiver, check out our DroneScout receiver page.
Why your phone misses drones without a Bridge
Drones broadcast Remote ID over four radio transports. Phones only receive some of them:
| Transport | Used by | iPhone / iPad | Android | With Bridge |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bluetooth Legacy | Many add-on modules | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Bluetooth Long Range S8 | Many drones and modules | No, on any iPhone or iPad | Optional, and often unreliable on phones that claim it | Yes |
| Wi-Fi Beacon | Most drones, including DJI | No, iOS doesn't allow it | Throttled to ~2 scans per minute | Yes |
| Wi-Fi NaN | Rare | No | Some phones | Yes |
| Wi-Fi 5 / 5.8 GHz | A few drones, e.g. Skydio | No | No | Triple-band models |
Without a Bridge, an iPhone only sees Bluetooth Legacy broadcasts, which are a small minority of real-world Remote ID traffic. More detail in the DroneScout FAQ.

Do you want to receive Remote ID signals from popular drones and have a larger detection range on your phone? DroneScout Bridge is a small device that relays Remote ID signals into a wireless signal that your smartphone understands. See also this review in Dutch.
Do you want to know if your drone is Remote ID compliant? DroneScout Bridge performs 10 basic checks. See the manual for more details (and limitations).
Do you need a Remote ID receiver for your drone or aircraft for DAA (Detect and Avoid) applications? DroneScout Bridge can output detected Remote ID signals using a MAVLink interface. We provide example source code to receive and display messages. See the manual for more information.

Which DroneScout Bridge should I buy?
- Detecting drones with your phone: ds110 retail. It covers all bands, has the longest range, and comes in an enclosure with a swappable antenna.
- Smallest for your pocket: ds111 retail. Triple-band with an internal antenna, at the cost of shorter range.
- On a budget, 2.4 GHz is enough: ds100 retail. It misses drones that broadcast only on 5 GHz.
- On a drone, or inside your own product: the PCB versions. They take 5–15 V on the JST-SH connector and output MAVLink.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a DroneScout Bridge to detect drones with my iPhone?
Without it, an iPhone only receives Bluetooth Legacy Remote ID. No iPhone or iPad can receive Bluetooth Long Range S8, and iOS doesn't let apps scan Wi-Fi Beacons, which is what most drones, including DJI, use. Bridge receives those and relays them as Bluetooth Legacy.
Is it useful on Android too?
Yes. Many Android phones lack Bluetooth Long Range S8 or receive it unreliably, and Android throttles Wi-Fi scanning to about twice a minute. With Bridge, an Android phone sees every drone in range continuously.
Do I need to pair it with my phone?
No. Bridge relays standard, connectionless Bluetooth Remote ID. Switch it on and the drones appear in the app.
Does it work with other Remote ID apps?
Yes. It works with any Remote ID app that receives Bluetooth, not only DroneScout.
What is the range?
Up to 2 km with the ds110 or ds100 retail and their 5 dBi antenna, and up to 1 km with internal-antenna models. These are realistic field figures, not ideal-condition maximums. The actual range depends on the drone's transmit power, the terrain and interference.
How is it powered?
Over USB-C from your phone or a power bank. It uses about 450 mW, so our 2600 mAh power bank runs it for over 12 hours. The PCB versions also accept 5–15 V on the JST-SH connector.
Can I use it on my drone for detect and avoid?
Yes. Bridge outputs every detected drone as MAVLink (ADSB_VEHICLE or OPENDRONEID message packs) on its UART connector, ready for ArduPilot/PX4 or your own system. Example Python and C code is included. See the manual.
Can it check if my own drone is Remote ID compliant?
It runs 10 basic checks on a drone's Remote ID broadcast. The manual lists them and their limitations.
